Act like today is already an awesome day. – Do so, and it will be. Research shows that although we think that we act because of the way we feel, in fact we often feel because of the way we act. A great attitude always leads to great experiences.
Make yourself smile first thing in the morning. – It’s difficult to feel down when your face is happy. Fill your bathroom or bedroom mirror with post-it notes of your favorite quotes, goals, mantras, photos, etc., and then reflect on them for a minute or two when you first wake up.
Spend time with people who make you smile. – Who nourishes and supports you? Surround yourself with these people. Spend time with those who reflect the person you want to be – people who do good things and make your life a little brighter simply by being in it.
Try something totally new. – Go somewhere you’ve never been. Do something you’ve never done. It will shake up your vision of what the world is like and give you a fresh new perspective on things. Variety truly is the spice of life. You can see or do something a million times, but you can only see or do it for the first time once. As a result, first time experiences usually leave a reflective mark in our minds for the rest of our lives. So spice it up! The more experiences you have, the richer your life will be.
Work on something that’s meaningful to you. – Engage yourself in a meaningful personal project, or pull the trigger on doing something you’ve wanted to do for a long time, but haven’t yet had the resolve to do. Life is short. Today is the day to take action.
Keep track of the things you’re grateful for. – You can’t help but feel good when you literally count your blessings. Start a gratitude journal and express your thanks on a daily basis.
Dream big. – You can do anything you set your mind to. Visualize your dreams coming true and work at making them a reality.
Listen to your inner voice. – Your instincts are good. It’s important to listen to your own head and heart. Don’t always listen to others. Do what you know in your heart is right, for you.
Trust yourself. – You are kind. You are smart. You are important. Your choices are just as valid as anyone else’s.
Truly appreciate those around you. – Tell your friends you adore them, say thank you and mean it, flash your biggest and most sincere smile at strangers on the street, hug people for longer than normal. The more love you give out, the more it builds inside of you and the more you’ll get back.
I’ve been to Pampanga several times already. Whenever we visit our relatives, school stuff, etc. These past few months, I dunno what’s with me but I’m loving the feeling of traveling all the way from Manila to Pampanga alone. The one and a half hour bus ride with my earphones and stuff, the sun that strikes me cos I dun want to close the curtains as I wanna take a look at the province inspired view outside, unknown seatmates that I’ve got to give a little shy smile, that innocence and strange feeling and the excitement and jitters every time I realize I’m going to see his ‘awesome’ family again. And, when I say awesome I mean literally.
So yeah. Yesterday I was in Pampanga the whole day, with him and his fam. It was definitely a well spent Sunday and a total great week starter. I never thought of myself traveling that far alone. Well, that’s just one of the few things that he taught me in this relationship. Sometimes, I gotta try to do things on my own. Actually, it was the second time that I visited them. The first time was in December, it was a late celebration for his birthday. I’m not going to elaborate what happened that day nor yesterday as that’ll be kept privately within me. Let me just share the feeling I always get whenever I am there, with them.
His family is great. They are one of a heck of life and tell-me-what-your-problem-is advisers and encouragers. That’s one of the best things that I have discovered. They are straight-forward people (Now I know why, B. 😉). They are very welcoming, they always make me feel at home. They’re all nice and yeah kinda loud but in a good way. Because whenever they talk, they always make sure that it matters and you get something from it. Sooooo him, as well. They eat with their bare hands and I do love and enjoy it. Cos at home, we do it with spoon and fork unless we eat tuyo, gg and other dry foods. Also, they love eating soooo much! Well, I never doubted that because knowing Earnest, totally a big eater! ‘Ika nga nila, “mana-mana lang yan.” Hihi. Going back, they never ran out of things to say, stories to tell and laugh about. I can feel that care they have towards each other. I can feel their love for each other vibrating around that home. Those genuine smiles in their eyes that shoot you straight to your heart, simply amazing. I don’t know if I am overdoing it but ‘happiness’ in that home is an understatement. Really.
I am so much in love with him and the time that I fin’lly met his family and know them little by little, oh god, I’m falling helplessly and I don’t want to be catched cos I am admiring every little things about him.
Dati, Iloilo at Bicol lang ang probinsya ko. Nagyon, Pampanga is starting to be one of them and the feeling is totally amazing 💕PS. I love his fam. *shy smile* And, it feels sooo good to write again. ☺️
"I’m in love with you, and I’m not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I’m in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we’re all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we’ll ever have, and I am in love with you."
Today is the two-year anniversary of the publication of The Fault in Our Stars. I just wanted to share a couple memories with you of those days:
The first teenager to read TFIOS was my now-assistant Rosianna. We were at Vidcon and Rosianna’s dad had died unexpectedly that day, and she couldn’t get home to the UK to be with her family. That night, we were talking about Esther and about the book and I offered to let her read it. She read it overnight and the next morning when she returned the manuscript to me, she said, “It’s definitely the best book you’ve written,” and I really clung to that in the intervening months as I worried that I might disappoint all the people who’d preordered it.
Then, the night the book came out, Hank and I were in Boston to start the TFIOS tour. I was nervous about going on stage, and also upset because I’d promised all preorders would be signed but a bunch of unsigned books had been shipped to some people in Europe. Right before the show started, Esther’s family came backstage and talked to us. Lori and Wayne (Esther’s parents) were so kind about the book.
Since then, millions (!!!!) of people have been similarly generous to the book, forgiving its flaws and insufficiencies and finding in it something moving and helpful. I can never sufficiently express my gratitude to Rosianna, or to the Earls, or to all the people since who’ve loved and shared TFIOS. Nor can I ever thank Sarah, or Esther, or my publisher Julie Strauss-Gabel, who worked relentlessly on the book for so many years.
This is the nature of owing debts of gratitude, and I owe a lot of them. All I can say is thanks. Thanks for caring about Hazel and Gus. Thanks for loving them as I do. As long as people are still reading about them, they’re still here.
So he will do to me whatever he has planned. He controls my destiny. (Job 23:14)
God has an assignment for you that nobody else can fulfill. God needs you. He needs your gifts, your smile, your love, your passion. You are a part of His divine plan. You have something to offer nobody else can offer. Nobody has your exact personality, your exact looks. There is something unique about you. Don’t wear that “average” label. If you think you’re average, then you’ll be average. If you think you’re ordinary, then you’ll live an ordinary, “get by life” and never do anything great.
The truth is, there is nothing ordinary about you. You have the fingerprints of God all over you. The Creator of the universe breathed His life into you. He crowned you with His favor. You have royal blood flowing through your veins. You have a destiny to fulfill, something greater than you’ve ever even imagined. Embrace His truth, embrace His love, and embrace the blessings He has in store for your future!
i think the best feeling is when you make someone that you like a lot laugh and their face lights up and they start giggling and you’re really happy that you were able to make someone so beautiful smile so much
On the first day, God created the dog and said: “Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.”
The dog said: “That’s a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I’ll…
